Flights to Jammu

One of the three regions comprising the state of Jammu and Kashmir is the sixth largest state in India, Jammu. One of the most famous pilgrimage tourism destinations in India, Jammu was once a seat of the Dogra Rajput dynasty. Later, in the 19th century the city came under the control of Ranjit Singh and became part of the Sikh kingdom. Legend has it that the city was founded by Raja Jamboolochan in the 14th century when during one of this hunting escapades he saw a goat and an Asiatic Lion drinking water at the same place near Tawi river. After having quenched their thirst, they went their own ways. This completely amazed Jamboolochan and he exclaimed that this place is a place of peace and tranquility. He then commanded a city to be built at the site. Thus, a city by the name Jamboo was erected, which later with passage of time was changed to Jammu.

Nestling in the foothills on the Himalayas, Jammu is a land of mystical palaces and mesmerizing ancient temples. With the widest variety of verdant terrain and natural world, the city’s beautiful landscapes, pristine lakes fringed by forest covered hills and alluring valleys, makes it a complete paradise.
