Yatra.com now the No. 1 travel website in India
Yatra.com has been declared as the most used travel website in the India, by JuxtConsult, an independent online research and advisory organization. A brand usability study of Indian online travel companies revealed that most customers prefer using Yatra.com when it comes to online travel bookings.
Yippeeeeee!!!!
The JuxtConsult’s study analysed internet usage dynamics, behavior and website preferences of the consumers through a large scale ‘online survey’ with over 15,000 internet users in April 2008. The online survey was conducted using Google (keyword) Search Ads and JuxtConsult’s own Internet User Panel (www.getcounted.net). The online survey data represented the entire online population (urban and rural), by using appropriate demographic ‘weights’ derived from the land survey and using authentic Govt. of India population statistics.

Its a big joke!
My friend booked some tickets from yatra.com using my credit card. The next day he was informed that he needs to send some documents for confirmation and apparently the tickets were sold out by then.
On speaking with a yatra official, we were informed that the amount (charged on the credit card) will be refunded within 5-6 working days, also we got a confirmation that since there was no ticket booked the entire amount will be refunded without any service charge. (I have mails to prove this)
A month later when i got my credit card bill i realised that the amount was not yet refunded and on speaking with the same yatra official again i was told that it normally takes 20-25 days for such a refund. When i mentioned the previous mail communication she suddenly started apologising and promised that the amount will be refunded within 2 days. The amount was refunded and i got the confirmation after 2-3 requests but to my surprise they were shameless enough to deduct the service charge of Rs 400 for the tickets that were never booked.
This is another example of poor customer service in India. And Yatra is just another one of them. So my suggestion to Yatra is that instead of being proud of your no. 1 status you better work on improving your customer service!
P.S.: I have written record of all the communication to substantiate my claim!

Yatra & AirDeccan SUCKS.Yatra booking refrence number is 7B7MIA with AirDeccan PNR 8248332 was cancelled on 5/8/08 for Sec Kandla-Mumbai for travel date 6/9/08 for 3 paxs, MK Sangoi,HM Sangoi,HK Sangoi. After numerous follow-up with Air Deccan people, everytime I receive a standard reply that it will be done in a 3 days. Kindly process the Refund asap. The Booking amt was Rs.13047 & refund amt is Rs.10647. THIS IS MY 20TH REMINDER AFTER THE 14 DAY GRACE PERIOD FOR REFUND. Numerous calls to Mr Eshwar Singh (supposed to be Refund Officer) on his mobile 09986712197 & Mr.Somaiya go unattended.
I have spoken to numerous people at the Call centre (Chandrakala etc…), wasted hundreds of rupees in STD Calls. Also Yatra who is supposed to be my booking agent, washes its hand away in AirDeccan refund cases, saying that the customer directly needs to follow up on that.
Since the booking is made thru Yatra , why wouldn’t Yatra take care of the Refund as well. So to sum it ‘is yatra the no.1 travel website ?’ Yes definately its no. 1 in phasaoing.

We do hope you allow us another opportunity to service your travel needs.

Hi,
I am lawer and I booked my ticket on yatra 9/11/08 but money was transacted and no ticket. Reason given was ticket not confirmed. Again, after calling N-number of times, they told me they will issue another class of ticket but i have to pay them once more…how strange…pay for your ticket twice……after few days of repeated calling (thanks for the toll free no. and listening to “your call is important to us, please stay on line”)….they told me ticket money refunded for the first one on 11/11/08….again after 2 days called in and got a reply it will refunded in 72……i am going ahead and blocking my payment from bank on 16/11/08 if money is not refunded and if any more problems file a complaint and ask for a bigger compensation for all the headaches I had. If money is not refunded in a timely manner Yatra is closed….
