5 Great International Holiday Destination

Friday, October 17th, 2008
Christmas vacations are coming up and its time to take a well-deserved break from the rat race of today’s professional world. Treat yourself and your family to a wonderful vacation in an exotic destination far from the hustle-bustle of tourist crowds. Here is a list of some vacation destinations that are popular with locals but are largely undiscovered by the Indian globetrotter.
Tasmania
With 18 national parks and 1,200 miles of nature trails, Tasmania is one of the few unexploited wilderness retreat. Enjoy scenic walks along Tasmania’s West Coast, which is one of the wildest and unexploited regions of Australia (Tasmania is Australia’s island state). Pay a visit to the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park, a world heritage wilderness area. Tasmania is home to some of the most amazing flora
and faunaincluding the Tasmanian Devil – the world’s largest surviving carnivorous marsupial and other rare animals that have been provided safe sanctuary by the state’s many wildlife and national parks
Montenegro
Not well known as a tourist destination yet, Montenegro came to the notice of seasoned travelers after the release of the last James Bond movie - Casino Royale. This South European country offers vast stretches of warm sandy beaches flanked by the clear Mediterranean Sea, perfect for sunning and lazing the days away.
Namibia
With the awe-inspiring Sossusvlei sand dunes, plenty of big game including giraffes and elephants, and a coastline that seems to be totally desolate in spite of its exquisite beauty – Namibia is just waiting to be explored by the intrepid traveler. A vacation here has got to be an amazing experience.
The Maltese Islands
An archipelago of three islands – Malta, Gozo and Comino, the Maltese Islands offer an unusual escape from the sophistication of modern metropolitans. With over 7,000 years of history behind it, these islands, especially Malta offer you a trip back in time through their historical landmarks, architectural masterpieces, and laid back lifestyle.

Greenland
It is the world’s largest island, yet has a population of just 55,000! The reason – a harsh climate! But, that doesn’t stop travelers from visiting this beautiful geographic wonder. Breathtaking scenic vistas including the famous Northern Lights, miles of floating icebergs and snow-covered landscapes which actually translate into opportunities to enjoy winter sports year-round. To top it all, you have crystal clear lakes surrounded by valleys carpeted with wild flowers in the spring time. All these and much more draw nature lovers and explorers.

Hampi Revisited

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008
Visitors to Hampi miss out on the best by restricting their visit to the heritage site of the Vijayanagara empire. Across the river is the royal village of Anegundi set amidst lush green fields of paddy and banana, a refreshing contrast to the barren landscape of Hampi.

Anegundi, believed to be the monkey kingdom of Kishkinda in the epic of Ramayana, is at a distance of 5 km from the historical site of Hampi. It is being developed into a world class tourist spot by engaging the localites to sensitise them to their cultural wealth and provide them a means of livelihood.
