Introduction
Persian Farmaans, Nishans, Manshurs, Akbarat, Vakil Report, Arzdasht, Khatoot - these are just a handful of the incredibly impressive administrative records hailing from the Mughal period that can be found at the Directorate of the Rajasthan State Archives in Bikaner. Also included in its repository is invaluable data pertaining to the administration of princely states such as Bahiat, Pattas, Parwanas, Rukkas, Chithiat etc. No wonder then, the establishment is a coveted destination for researchers from across the globe. While microfilming facilities, a well-stocked library and rooms exclusively earmarked for research purposes aid the scholars; for the tourists, a record gallery has been designed which has on display documents related to administration, society, economy and history.
