Introduction
A weekly celebration of the city’s folk culture, the Plaza Carnival is a regular fixture on Chandigarh’s cultural calendar. Held at the open stage of Plaza Square in Sector 17, it is a three-hour long event where artists from around the city showcase their talents.
An event open for all, without any entry charge, the Plaza Carnival is a good way to spend an evening amid the city’s denizens and partake in the local culture. At the carnival, budding artists and local theater troupes perform to small audiences of families out for an evening’s entertainment. Regular events include plays, dance performances, magic shows, stand-up comedy or mimicry routines, or exhibitions of art and sculptures.
