Introduction
Few miles south of Anjuna, Baga Beach is basically an extension of the Calangute Beach, and is about 10 kilometers (6.25 miles) from the city of Mapusa. This one is more scenic, unspoilt and less commercial than Calangute. Take in the scenery of the Baga River flowing down from one side of the brown sand, with black lava rocks clustered at a place where the river meets the blue Arabian Sea. A quintessential land-meets-sea getaway, the fishing beach of Baga in North Goa is nestled between a rocky and wooded headland offering brilliant views of the sea. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful beach experience in Goa, not to mention amidst stunning scenery, Baga is the place to be. Here you can laze around on the spotless beach for hours and work on your tan while reading up a book.
A picturesque part of Goa, at Baga the waves are huge and rush to crash on the shore, the rocks are dark and shiny and the woods lush. Simply soak up the sun, take photographs and stroll the beach. When hungry, head to one of the many thatched eating places and tuck into a platter of succulent seafood complemented by some Goan Feni. Baga Beach has everything from small shacks to pizzeria and terraced cafes, leaving you spoilt for choice. What better than enjoying an open-air candlelight dinner of traditional Goan delicacies at a beachside restaurant, and topping it off with some exotic wine.
