Introduction
Another monument where the origins can be traced back to the British rule is the Holy Cross Church. Built by residents of the region, it is a small church that is worth a visit for its serene location and historic structure. Though the church is now in a dilapidated condition, people still flock here to see the beautiful and intricate stained glass windows.
With the smallest known parish - just seven families, the church is maintained by their meager donations. Which, given the magnitude of rain in Mahabaleshwar is a tough task indeed.
Even though the church is no more than a relic now, its magnificent stained glass windows are still as amazing. While visiting do maintain the silence required by a place of worship even as you admire the many small and thoughtful touches that make this church a popular local attraction.
