Introduction
Camel's Back Road is in lower Mussoorie. It is a 3-kilometer (1.86 miles) stretch between Library Chowk and Kulri Bazar. The road is named after a natural rock here that resembles a camel's hump. Camel’s Back Road is famous for horse rides and long walks. This place is relatively quieter than the rest of lower Mussoorie due to the fact that vehicles are not allowed here. Horse riding can be enjoyed at INR 100 for 2.5 kilometer (1.55 miles). You can also explore Camel’s Back on a rickshaw that cost INR 25 for a ride. There are shops and restaurants on one side of the road selling woolen garments and bakery products. While the other side is an open expanse, and looks down across the stretch of Doon Valley and the mountains in the distance. Stay on to witness a spectacular sunset over the dark hills, and watch the distant tiny lights in the Doon Valley flicker on. Telescopes line one side of the road, through which tourists get a clear view of landmarks in Mussoorie as well as places further away, like Gangotri and Yamunotri.
Besides its picturesque setting, Camel’s Back is also popular for restaurants, especially the Revolving Restaurant that offers a delicious array of multi-cuisine dishes while giving you a slow, 360-degree view of the mountains, if you sit there long enough.
