Introduction
As the road leads you 11 kms out of Mysore, the magnificent Lalitha Mahal Palace, beautiful and shimmering white with European architectural influences, double columned and domed and set in the middle of a magnanimous terrace garden, is sure to make you stop and adore the beautiful monument. Built originally in 1921 by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV exclusively for accommodating the Viceroy of India, it was designed by E.W. Fritchley in the Renaissance style. The once royal guest accommodation has now been converted into a 5-Star Hotel of the India Tourism Development Corporation. You can choose to stay and enjoy the royal experience or just drop by for a meal or a cup of tea and explore the beautiful architecture of the Lalith Mahal Palace. There is a waiting area which leads to the grand dining hall in blue and white. Beside the dining area is an open indoor garden with a water body. Ducks and other small birds roaming around freely add to the charm of the place. Over all an excellent experience and surely worth a visit.
