Introduction

Ardent Bollywood fans will recognize the Pykara Lake and Falls in no time. This has been a favorite location of movie makers for a long time now.

Originating from the Mukurthi peak, Pykara River flows down through a series of cascades. The last two falls -- 55 and 61 meters respectively, are called the Pykara Falls. Further down is a dam, source of water and irrigation to the area, and the breath taking Pykara Lake. Tamil Nadu Tourism has organized a boating facility at Pykara Lake.

The Pykara power plant is the highest plant in Asia till date and is situated at a height of 938.78 meters. Pykara Lake and Falls are excellent photographic locations and a very relaxing experience. On the way to Pykara is Wenlock Downs, a huge stretch of grassy pasture, another favorite picnic and movie-making location.
