A quintessential sun-and-sand getaway in Pondicherry, the beach is popular with water sports enthusiasts who come here to enjoy kayaking, canoeing and boat rides. And if you are feeling less energetic, you can simply stretch back on a deck chair and work on your tan. Or enjoy a round of beach volleyball. To add to the ambience, the road along the beach has been illuminated with sodium vapor lamps. For your convenience, there is a boat jetty in the Arasalar, and immovable sitting chairs have been provided along the road. You can enjoy a game of tennis here, though an unlikely beach activity. Kids can be kept occupied at the Children’s Park scattered with different types of rides.
 
After having worked up an appetite, proceed to the beach restaurant serving an array of sandwiches and drinks. Visitors can avail the vehicle parking facility close to the beach. Angling is also popularly enjoyed at Karaikal, and if you wish to hone your angling skills, make sure you carry your own gear.

A clear blue sky, the soaring sea gulls, an azure sea stretching into distance, and a pristine stretch of golden sand, make Karaikal Beach look like a painter’s canvas. And a trip to Pondicherry is incomplete without spending a day on this beach!

Exposure

You will be under the open sky of Pondicherry. In the morning and evening, enjoy the fresh breeze wafting from the sea. But noon gets quite warm and the sun rays are rather strong. You are advised to wear a lot of sunscreen lotion, carry along sunshades and a bottle of drinking water.
