Introduction

Come June and the entire town of Shimla comes together to celebrate the warm days of summer with folk dance and music shows, elaborate flower decoration in every street, and a new display of handicraft at the shops. During this week-long International Shimla Summer Festival,

local school and college kids put up cultural performances, flower shows showcase some of the most exotic blooms of the season, suffusing the place with an aura of festivity. But it is the painting competitions, held at popular venues that add color to the event. In addition to this there is a roller skating competition and a beauty pageant to select Miss Shimla. Such a burst of activity leaves most visitors spoilt for choice.

Highpoint of this summer festival is the great variety of food available at the stalls - from local Himachali dishes to world cuisine.
