Introduction

The picturesque Akkulam Lake is about 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) from Ulloor junction in Trivandrum city, and about 10 kilometers (6.25 miles) from the central railway station. Set on its banks is the Akkulam Tourist Village with a sprawling children’s park, snack bar and paddle pool. There is also a large swimming pool where you can enjoy a refreshing dip before heading out to the snack bar for a cup of coffee. The Akkulam Lake is a part of the Veli Lake, and the tourist village is spread out on a sand bar that separates the Veli Lagoon from the Arabian Sea. Akkulam is dotted with fish ponds, wade pools and beautiful landscaped gardens. The boat club is another attraction for water sports enthusiasts offering delightful boat cruises on Akkulam Lake.

Boat rentals: (timings: 1000 to 1830 hours) Safari boat: Rs 450 for 10 people; Adults: Rs 25; Children between 5 to 12 years: Rs 15 for pedal boat; Rs 75 for four persons. Row boat Rs 75 for 4 persons, Rs 50 for 2 persons. Entrance fee: Children’s park (timings: 1000 to 1930 hours): Adults Rs 5; Children Rs 3. Swimming pool (timings 0600 to 1830 hours): Adults Rs 30, Children Rs.20.
