Introduction

Nehru Garden can be a great place to unwind after a demanding day of sightseeing in the city. Named after India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, this sprawling garden of 40 acres was inaugurated on his birthday 14th November in the year 1967. The lovely Nehru Garden is an oval-shaped island in the crystal-clear waters of Fateh Sagar Lake. Explore its flower beds in a riot of colors and the beautiful lily pond, with a gentle breeze blowing from the lake all the while. It is a nice place to spend some time in solitude, soak up the natural beauty and enjoy the wind in your face.

From the island, you can view the bronze statue of Maharana Pratap balanced on his horse Chetak atop Moti Magri, and the rugged Aravallis on the three sides. The place can be reached by a boat from one side of Fateh Sagar Lake. Take a stroll around, and you will notice that the park is interspersed with pyramidal fountains akin to those in Vrindavan Gardens, Mysore. Before leaving, stop for some sumptuous snacks at the floating boat-shaped restaurant in the north west of the garden. Nestled amidst scenic surroundings on the calm waters of Fateh Sagar Lake, the vibrant Nehru Garden is a nice place for an evening out.
