My family had the misfortune of choosing this as the venue for my brother's wedding. The sales rep was all smiles and folded hands while we were discussing details. He promised us various things verbally, including flower arrangements, decor, centre pieces, stage et al. Also, he ensured that he'll be the single point of contact, and will take care of dealing with DJ, decrator and other vendors.
But once the advance was paid, he changed his colors completely. He seldom took calls, was rude when he did, always said he is not in the hotel. Once, we even caught his lie, as we happened to call while we were at the hotel, and he was walking by the corridor as he was announcing to us on phone that he is actually away.
Moreover, we ended up dealing with all vendors ourselves, who refused to offer various items within discussed cost, and said that as per their agreement with the hotel, they'll charge us extra for everything.
The situation came to a point where, 2-3 weeks before the wedding, we seriously contemplated absorbing the loss of advance already paid, and look for another venue. But a senior, and more sensible manager intervened (through personal reference), and assured that he'll overlook things. It was decided that we'll get our own decorator and DJ, and cost of same will be deducted from our final payment. (whereas one of the reasons why we chose a "5 star hotel" instead of a banquet was to avoid the pain of dealing with multiple vendors.)
On the big day, the food was definitely good. But other then that, the arrangements left us very disappointed. Basic stuff like stairs to the stage were badly handled. spilled food was cleaned only after an hour, and that too after a lot of follow up with the staff. And the mandap where pheras take place was the biggest disappointment. There was no tenting on top of it, so the couple getting married as well as the family and friends were left shivering in the end of November chill. Coffee was only offered after we pleaded multiple times. And the coal angithis were ineffective.
Will I recommend anyone to plan a function in this venue? my answer is a big NO.
