Bogmallo Beach Resort

1st trip to Goa and don't regret staying here at all. I'm glad we chose to spend our trip in the south, its good to be able to get away from the more hectic places and just enjoy a great view which is what you will have at this hotel. We enjoyed the sound of crashing waves and a sunset every night from our balcony.The gorgeous tiled terrace with its sea view lined by palm trees has a faded glamour you won't forget, and the whole place has a relaxed charm that is preferable in my opinion to all that modern minimalism that doesn't really belong in India. Its not a European or US style 5/4 star, but the accommodation is a great standard for India and should be acceptable to most western travelers. I wouldn't bother with the hotels spa facilities tho. I would encourage anyone to try this hotel with two caveats 1) don't stay in the cottages - they looked pretty rough and I would have been sorry to pay any premium for them. 2) this is an easy location to get to from the airport after a long trip but its not the easiest place to get back out of for touring around as it isn't well connected by anything other than the hotels incredibly overpriced taxis which we made use of to get around - haggling with them although possible was a pain as they intend to operate on a fixed price basis and a traveling in them wasn't too much fun although the drivers are friendly enough. There is a local bus to vasco da gamma but vasco itself is an industrial town and probably not top on the list of places to see. The bus can be pretty uncomfortable and hot especially in April when we went. If you want to be able to travel more easily Majorda could be a better location just down the coast a little with a wonderful beach and a train station. That said we did manage to get south to Karnataka on the train which was a great experience. I would definitely go back to bogmallo because I liked the hotel so much - maybe for a couple of nights next time before moving on.
