Stayed at the Hyatt Kolkata for 6 weeks before Christmas 2013. This was a business trip. The hotel is like many other Hyatts around the world, even down to the windows. I stayed on the 3rd floor looking out over the Salt Lake Stadium and the field where the kids play cricket and the restaurant owners dry their table cloths. I was collected by the Hyatt car from the airport, the driver needs a bigger sign or needs to stand out from the 100's of people clambering for your business, a relief when I found him. First time to KK so the trip to the hotel was interesting despite a 24 hour trip I was wide awake. Arrived at the hotel where due to security issues in India the car is checked as are your bags when you arrive each time at the hotel. My room was on the 3rd floor, all the staff are very helpful and friendly, such a change from many other places I have stayed in. The staff really go out of their way to make you feel at home and at ease with their How are you's? and Good Mornings. Rooms are a good size, everything you need and if something you need is not there give the Concierge a call, one night we needed tape for presents...not an issue, will ask for a Koala bear next time! Riverside restaurant has a good selection, all diets and needs catered for and again friendly guys. I am not keen on spice so would request cheese on toast when I got in from work at midnight, the fries are to die for! Breakfast buffet, again a fantastic selection. Pool area is relaxing and an experience! As I was there at Christmas time, Santa arrived one day with many kids in tow, toffees, stressed parents...was all very entertaining! There were also several Indian weddings taking place. Very interesting and the staff were happy to explain what was going on. Good bar, with food available and the Pool Lounging is a bargain! I will not forget the Vodka shots :). Great place to stay, all very helpful, willing to go above and beyond. My only issue...and this is not the hotel this is Hyatt...are my Hyatt points...I still do not have them, fed up emailing customer services.
