The Oberoi

Not enough positive words can describe our experience at the Oberoi Hotel - Mumbai. We were there on a family holiday in a large party of 10 incluiding young babies. Nothing was too much of a chore- Mr Varun, the Manager- was so accomodating and made all our expectations be exceeded in any way possible. No request was too much and every little gesture from giving us an upgrade to interconnecting rooms to making pureed baby food for our little ones was widely taken to make our stay the best. And it was! We have been fortunate to travel a lot and have always stayed in great hotels both around the world and in Mumbai, and The Oberoi is by far the best we have ever stayed in. We cannot reccommend it highly enough. You wil not regret it!!!

Simply the best hotel in Mumbai. Get an ocean facing room. It's just stunning. There is no better place to stay and the food, service, cleanliness and care is just exceptional. Much, much better than the taj and the trident next door. Highly recommend

We stayed at the hotel for a week and it was the most amazing experience we had for our first glimpse of Mumbai. The staff are exceptional, the food in the Fenix Restaurant was delicious and the staff were attentive and made a point of tempting our taste buds with authentic Indian breakfasts each morning - it got better and better every day. Durgesh and other staff were brilliant. Thanks guys. We dined at the Vetro Italian Restaurant several times and were totally absorbed in the exceptional dishes we ate. Thank you to the chef and staff of the Vetro. Also a huge thanks for the special birthday cake - your attention to detail is second to none. A big thank you to the chauffeurs who made sure my daughter got to her appointments on time, and especially Annahita who gave us interesting historical info and told us about Mumbai must see's and must do's. The city tour is a must to get an idea of what is in Mumbai. The location was perfect and the views were great. Everything in this hotel from the 'welcome' to the 'check-out' exceeded our expectations of any hotel stay to date. We were so sorry we had to leave. Will definitely come back.

I don't say that lightly, but I came here almost directly from the JW Marriott in Orlando, and the comparison could not be more stark. The JW Marriott is a wanna be and this is the real thing. The other reviews give the picture, from superb accommodations and food to excellent service there is nothing that is not attended to with perfect style. We came to experience Mumbai and this ended up being our "second Honeymoon" just on the basis of how lovely the experience is. Truth be told, we have spent more then one day not going out into Mumbai and just enjoying the luxury in this hotel, from the amazing breakfast (forget lunch if you have had breakfast here) to the Spa it is just a beautiful place and luxurious on every level and at every level of detail. Do send some clothing out for laundry just to see how it comes back. No kidding. There really is nothing here that is not attended to with amazing level of detail, including the very small discreet tag on the front of my shirt saying that tried very hard to remove the stain but were afraid to go any further for fear of damaging the color - I mean really, where else would this happen? Flowers from the manager, a hand written note as well, a book from housekeeping, polite inquiries as to what we were doing for the day without being nosey. On arrival a manager took our picture, after that everyone addressed us by our name. I suppose I could go on, but how can you when every detail is looked after with this level of style? From a value point of view, I don't think you can buy this type of experience anywhere else no matter what the price, but this is India and so by Indian standards this is an expensive hotel, but by European or North American standards it is unbelievable value for money. The Oberoi is attached to the Trident next door where there are even more restaurants and guests here can use their pool as well. We did not stay at the Trident but it appears to be a notch below the Oberoi (what wouldn't be?). There is some guest shopping available in both hotels with a mini-type mall in the Oberio that has a separate entrance. Hotel car and driver is available and the car? - well it is a brand new Audi A8-L.... in Mumbai. The price is $150 US for half a day, I spend half that for a 30 minute taxi from Manhattan to Newark airport in a Prius. You do not have to be rich to be treated that way here. Other chains should send their managers here to learn how to do it. Congratulations to the management and staff at this Hotel. Bravo!

3rd time in Mumbai, each visit in a different hotel. This is the most wonderful experience, not just in Mumbai, but across regional countries visited. Even W Hotel cannot beat this. Every service crew has been very friendly, warm and helpful. But imagine my surprise when I returned to the room this evening to see a note from the housekeeper. A simple proactive action to change to a round knob and all because I wrapped a small towel around the previous angular knob to prevent more scratches to my thigh ... Thank you Shanker Ghosh ... You have certainly made this an extremely memorable visit.
