Padmini Niwas

i stayed at this hotel way back in june 2008 and must admit this is one of the best place to stay at mussorrie. the cottage suite in this hotelis just amazing. located at mall road this hotel gives some lovely view of the hills.

location of this hotel is awesome just on the mall road , rooms are very good , food is very good and homely , the hotel has parking facilities with over 50 cars parked. all the rooms are facing the mall road

After going through all the good reviews, I booked a room for 3N stay in Padmini Nivas, 5 weeks in advance through Goibibo and paid full amount. Before the booking, I had called up the Padmini Nivas manager to confirm the room availability. On getting the confirmation, I booked through Goibibo as I was getting a 20% discount. After booking, I forwarded the automated hotel confirmation email received from Goibibo to Padmini Nivas. I did not got any response from them. Just 1 week before my travel, I get a phone call from Goibibo informing that the hotel room is not available and they would try to accommodate me in some other hotel. I told them that I spent lot of time researching on the hotels before deciding on Padmini Nivas and I had also checked on room availability before booking. I wrote an email to Goibibo management about this. For next 2 days, Goibibo team and Padmini Nivas were working in background to resolve the matter. And finally I was told that Padmini Nivas has made a room available room. After reaching Padmini Nivas, I inquired about this issue. I was told that though I had made full payment to Goibibo during the booking, the same was not transferred to Padmini Nivas. Hence they did not confirmed my booking. Hence lesson learnt was when you book from online travel portals, you should get it confirmed from the hotel and do the same again before you start your journey. Talking about the hotel. I stayed with my family in Padmini Nivas from 11th-14th May. Good things about the hotel: Location: The location is such that one gets a complete view of the valley. Unfortunately, I was given a non-valley facing room hence could not get to view the same from room. They have nice seating arrangement in the garden area from where you can spend good time enjoying the valley view. It is situated just 50 meters from the mall road, 100 meters from camels back road and yet away from the crowd as it is not on the mall road. Entry/Exit for Vehicles: They have a separate entry/exit for cars directly from the road that connects to mall road. Thereby saving the hassles and taxes of using the mall road. They have parking facility and drivers room. Rooms: Rooms were pretty big in size. Hence very comfortable. Rooms were clean. Cleanliness in toilets/bathrooms should be improved. Room Service: Room service was good. Things/food were delivered in reasonable time when asked for. Food: They have a good old british style restaurant. I was little disappointed with food. They don't have a good variety, The same menu was repeated on 2nd day with just a 1-2 changes. Hence we did not eat food on 2nd and 3rd day in hotel. We went to mall road restaurants. Considering they charge almost 800-900 per day per person for 3 times food, they should keep a good variety. Pure gujarati vegetarians may like the food. Others will like it once only. Medicine: We needed Moov cream. Hotel said they do not have first aid box. Luckily mall road was near. So I bought it from outside. So apart from the initial booking hassle, overall stay was comfortable.

I was there with my family i.e. we n our 2 kids for a summer break. I wud start by telling u the only lacuma of this hotel , we had to climb up a steep slope to reach the reception as the cabs r not permitted to get to the hotel so we had to climb up from the back side, the main entrance from the mall road is equally tiring and makes it a bit difficult to move in n out of the hotel too frequently. Apart from this every other thing was just fantastic, this being a heritage property, the rooms were huge and still well maintained n well furnished. The check in was hassle free and this is by far my best experience with any front office of a hotel, it doesnt stop here only, the room service is equally good and every staff seems well trained and truly professional. One thing that i forgot to clarify with them was it seems they appoint room service boys as per the rooms, which is a big plus as they already know what u want and u dnt have to repeat it to every other guy. I can go on n on about all the wonderful things this hotel offers but i wud simply recommend everyone to be there atleast once to know what real hospitality means. The front office guys were always charming and accomodating to our requests and demands and one thing that stands out here is the charming and ever smiling face of Mr. Jai.

i would suggest everyone preferably vegeterians to stay at padmini niws in mussorie. hotel premises, rooms, room service n food is the best. centrally located on mall road making it easily accessible, full view of mountains n valleys across mussorie, fully spacious for other activities are some of the additonal advantages. full kudos to padmini n its staff for making my family's stay at mussorie a memorable experience.
