In the middle of the Kumaon forests lies this little gem called Kyari Corbett. A perfect escape from the noise and clutter of a big city. I was floored by how tastefully the resort is done in a rustic, almost boho, style with great attention to detail (like the beautiful matching knobs on drawers and doors or the handmade wood furniture). The rooms and cottages are connected by a garden where I could easily spend hours with a book listening to songs of the birds punctuated by the welcome sounds of my next meal being laid out. :-) Sitting in the garden around a bonfire one night, I ended up making friends with random strangers - two doctors, a vet and a very adorable kid - who were also staying there. These are people I wouldn't otherwise interact with in a big city with our busy lives. But being in Kyari there was no reason not to interact with the few human arounds. The food here is simple and delicious and the staff extremely kind and prompt. Lots of variety in the food too. Do venture outside the resort. There's many hiking trails around. On your way to which you could walk by some farms and a small primary school, where if you are lucky, you might chance upon some cute little kids playing. For the thrill seekers, the resort conducts jungle safaris in the day and a lantern walk in the night. Wild elephants and deers are common although they stay a little further away from the more well-lit areas hence you go out seeking them :-) If you are lucky there might be a tiger or two too. Another lovely experience is the walk to the nearby river on a moonlit night. The night sky is extremely clear and the riverbed hauntingly beautiful on a clear full moon night. Take a member of Kyari Corbett staff with you just to be on the safe-r side.Read More
