  • A good hotel with decent service but expensive and needs repair!

    A superior room goes at 9500 a night. At that price, prefer to stay at the Radisson or the Cecil. The hotel is far away from the main city and the approach road is a thin one lane road. Nothing much to do around the hotel premises. It basically services the parents of the Bishop Cotton School students. The room service is prompt, the servers are knowledgeable and can speak english. They do not harry for tips. The front desk is polite and helpful. They have a single restaurant cum coffee shop. Food is terrible. But they understand that they serve crap food, so they offer a discount of 30%. Avoid eating here. Do not choose the bundled buffet. At 850 rupees, they are serving parantha, milk and corn flakes. The pool is small, shallow and overcrowded. It is just a fixture. Did not try the spa. Now about the room. The good thing - room was clean, hygenic, well ventilated, cozy. All amenities. bathroom was very clean and usable. The bad - the room was old, door knobs were broken, fan didnt work and the electric appliances were ancient. The TV had very limited channels. My opinion- stay if you are getting a deal. The price point for this hotel should be 3000 (40$) per night with food. Not more. It is not a resort, it is just a primmed up guest house.

    I went to Shimla for my son's addmission in boarding school. East Bourne hotel is the nearest and best hotel for this school almost all BCS parents stays in this hotel.So I also choose this hotel. Hotel is good and its service also very good. Hotel management is also very responsive. But I think this hotel needs improvements in some areas like Bathroom quality. They have serious problem of wet floor in their bathroom due to defective plumbing. When I stay here second time we have taken family room for 4 person where they have 2 WC and one bathroom. but I faced same problem in these bathrooms also and in addition a single WC has issue with hot water in health faucet, due to which nobody coul'd use that WC. Bed quality was good but I don't know I cant sleep properly may be due to long drive.But otherwise bed size was also very good.

    An amazing and a truly fabulous experience. Set in pristine environment, in the lap of nature, surrounded by pine forests, found it to be the ultimate getaway. The tranquility is mesmerising, the setup is a perfect blend of colonial and modern and the hospitality is impeccable. Truly a Jewel of the Queen of Hills.

    Well laid out resort and nestled into one side of Shimla it came as a very welcome surprise for us to be staying there. It has very large and well appointed rooms, the central heating beats it all for comfortable and a cosy stay. All rooms have good views. The open terrace serving buffet breakfast and other meals has a lovely view of the hills. The food is very good backed by an enthusiastic team that makes you feel like royalty. The indoor heated swimming pool and the Spa are a welcome relief. Kudos to the management for such a lovely property.

    Though a big resort on the outskirts of Shimla, but it failed to generate a sense of excitement and contentment on its part of living in a resort! Would say that its now just like any other hotel with big rooms, good bathroom, big beds but old mattresses, not so friendly tea/ coffee maker, difficult to operate wall mounted T.V., and average service. Food is average, room rent is high Had to change my room after a night stay as the mattress caused backache! Reception is average with some people eager to help and some with a sarkari attitude! Good thing is that it has a nice tarmac and a heated swimming pool. Can be more professionally managed.
