"My home in the hills"
Reviewed on Sat Jun 15 23:54:14 IST 2013 by NB83ND
At the outset I would like all you readers to know that I don't quite remember how many times I've visited this property! Well, to start with each one of us have different expectations from our holidays. My ideal holiday would be to break away from my hectic schedule and spend all my time in one particular place, within one massive space which would fulfil all my expectations. The Chalets, Naldehra is one such place where I would spend 10 straight nights and not budge as I feel as comfortable as if I'm home; In my own space. Attentive staff, beautiful accommodation (some of them are straight out of a fairytale), breathtaking panoramic views right from your bedside, pristine pine log structures- bliss to the eyes, patches of green intricately designed with hydrangeas, daisies and a wide range of beautiful flowers with vibrant colours are a treat to your senses... Whether it is the sunset or the sunrise, there's a place a few steps away within the property that gives you one of the best views. There are two forest walks if you are interested in walking the winding paths through the tall deodars where the pines whistle as you go. To top it all great food with a choice of Indian, chinese and continental cuisine; A beer garden for all of us who would like a sip of the soul under a brilliant sky with the mighty Himalayas set placidly on the horizon. A wholesome experience with a flavour of homely comfort is what this place offers but all this is not without credit to the competent and effective management whose watchful eyes do not leave a single blind-spot in this vast expansive property. The overall upkeep and maintenance will certainly give you a feeling of well-being, a fresh breeze away from the crowded bylanes of Shimla. I will go back again and again as I always have. Hope to see you there sometime... P.S. A new addition is the revolving restaurant called the 360 perched up high offering you a birds eye view of the mountains and valleys around.
