Hotel Silver Star

This hotel is not on the Dal lake that is the only disadvantage.Otherwise thr rooms are spacious and air conditioned which was really needed by us.Not many hotels in Srinagar have AC facility so it was a respite for us.Moreover the food was awesome and the restaurant was well designed.i liked this hotel and had a comfortable stay.

This place is far away from the city and closer to the road going to Gulmarg. We had to stay here as we went to Srinagar in the peak season and weren't able to get any of the hotels we wanted else there was no reason to stay here. This place is quite far from the city. Not recommended unless you have no other option. The hotel is average and so are the rooms. Nothing exceptional.

I checkedin a suite which costed me rs 10k all incl. The suite was average with very less inclusions. The hotel service is ok and gives you the satisfaction you seek. The worst thing in the hotel is availability of HOT water... Its only available for an hour in the morning. The reataurants are reasonably ok. The staff is although the ONe largest reason to stay... They are very cooperative and have a good response all the time to your queries. Sometimes it looks like silver star would have been a very good property had it been managed by a professional group like taj or oberoi. Lastly lower down your expectations and then u shall find it a good place to stay.

Silver Star hotel is situated at the Bypass Road. The hotel has spacious and well designed rooms. I would define my stay at the hotel as a mixed experience of good and bad. The positives of the hotel are: 1) Tastefully Designed Hotel with good rooms and restaurants 2) The hotel has a big and well mainained garden to enjoy the nature. 3) For the people who love to work out at any place they want to be, the hotel has a very well made gymnasium and sauna. They also have pool / snooker tables. 4) Food at the hotel is very good. 5) Staff is very cooperative and warm. 6) The hotel has a big banquet hall for any private functions or corporate events. 7) The hotel has a Wifi connectivity which is a big plus, as the internet facility is not very good in the valley. 8) Ample of parking space for the cars or travel buses. The negatives are: 1) The hotel is situated at the bypass road, hence it is not close to Dal Lake or any of the tourist places. Though it is close to the airport, but still 8kms away from Dal. During the evening, there can be a lot of traffic at bypass. 2) No market place can be found nearby, as it is a standalone property. 3) Warm water is available only in the mornings. 4) The hotel is close to the army area, so drills etc can make noises. 5) In room facilities of making tea etc in the room are not good.

I guess that's why the name is still silver star and not a golden star. The hotel is pretty good but one won't get what they are paying for. The staff is always smiling and very helpful in taking requests. One of the major drawback for a traveler is this hotel is outside Srinigar city and there are no shops nearby if one needs anything.
