Jamal Resort

i had visited this place to experience lunch. the overall food quality was average and after odering the food it took about 30 + mins . the shopping place at the resort was good. Only bought shalls here. I would recommend not to go just for meals.

We stayed for two days and two nights. It has huge open space at entrance gate with beautiful garden and lawn. The reception place is good and huge. The hotel entrance is good. We were allotted Room Nos.202, 203 & 204 which were on first floor above kitchen. The lobby was covered by 6 ft tall opaque glass. Nothing could be seen therefrom. The windows in all rooms open to backside of some residence. Nothing pleasant. Rooms were not that efficiently cleaned. The AC unit in 204 gets automatically started and even shut off. We have to bear kitchen sound until midnight and early in morning. But the room service was good. The staff at Tulip restaurant was good. They served us with warm breakfast. It seems that they are mainly in business of selling carpets, shawls etc. and resort is side business.

Stayed at the jamal resort for one night during my visit to srinagar...had to endlessly wait for check in as they couldnt retrieve my booking details...room was small and the bathroom was quite tiny...its also a little far off from the tourist part of dal lake..there was quite a bit of noise outside the room during the night. ..when we contacted the reception for help on sight seeing and onward cab booking they didnt have the time to help... this was inspite of them charging a hefty tariff...definitely should be avoided.

I stayed in this resort for 2 nights - 4th and 5th April 2013 in room H1. When we arrived at the resort at around 9 AM, there was no one at the entrance gate or near the reception. We had to carry our bage to the reception ourselves with no hotel bell boy to assist us. The hotel receptionist at first refused to acknowledge that we had a booking and only after we told him that we were here just to drop in our bags and will return only in the evening from Sonamarg, that he acknowledged that we had a booking. He asked us to keep the bags near the reception which we did. When we came back from day long excursion to Sonamarg, we were surprised to find that our bags were still lying at the same place...they did not even bother to move them to the room or a locker room(I doubt that they have one). The entire resort was under enovation with multiple works going on - there were carpets being laid, marble work going on which was very noisy. The room door did not had any latch to lock it from inside - when asked we were told that use the keys to lock it from inside!! The room was not prepared when we checked in (in the evening) - no toiletries, towels etc. One good thing was that the management would respond quickly whenever we wanted anything - they made everything available. In the night I woke up around 3 PM only to find that there was no electricity and no water in the washroom. And there was no one to be found in the entire resort who can help!! They lock the reception in the night !! The next day we had to go to Gulmarg and we were late. Our stay plan included buffet breakfast so we went to restaurant only to find that there was no buffet available !! the sole waiter told us that we could order anything and they will provide. Since we were getting late, we ordered simple bread toast because we thought that it will not take time - he took full 25 mins to bring toasts !! The second day evening at the time of settling our dues at the reception < I told the receptioninst that we have a flight to catch early morning next day (we had to leave by 5:30 AM) and hence he should ensure that electricity and water is available. However, when we got up at 4 AM there was no electricty/water. I went out and searched the entire resort with the help of torchlight in my mobile phone but not a soul was to be seen. The phone was also not working !! We managed to find a emergency no. which we dialled using our mobile phone. The gentleman responded and within 10 mins we had electricity and water !! Another con for the resort is the location. Though the management might claim that they are very close to Dal Lake, the Lake in itself is huge. You will have to travel atleast 10 KM before you can get to Dal Gate which is the happening part of the Dal Lake. All the restaurants/shops/markets are situated near the Dal Gate. A local auto will cost you around Rs.130-150 from Dal Gate to the hotel. The room was good with a huge washroom. Seemed like a new room with LCD TV. They have a huge room heater but that works only during winters when temp. is really low. As an alternative they provided a small heater which was not sufficient consiering the size of the room. Beds had 2 electronic blankets and sufficient wollen blankets - hence we did not had any issues regarding that. The complex is primarily that of Jamal Carpet Industries, a part of which is the resort. They have a huge carpet showroom and have some very good stock of carpets. The resort seemed expensive to me considering the services that they provided. The saving grace was that someone responded when we called them. They should be more proactive in providing the basic services which should not be demanded by the customer.

Jamal resort is a good hotel in 3* categary.it was a very nice stay.overall good service reception the first impression very good,very helpful people.some games also like table tennis ,badminton.shoping mall also belongs giving more discount to hotel guests.
