Chandrapur was the administrative headquarter of the district, which was earlier known as Chanda. The district lies in the Wainganga and Wardha river basin. Bhamragarh Wildlife Sanctuary With an area of 104.38-sq-km Bhamragarh Wildlife Sanctuary locates in the Chandrapur district in the Vidarbha region of Maharastra. The area comprises thick forest of woodland while small patches of grasslands spreads over the entire protected area.
