Located within a fertile and irrigated agricultural area Jalgaon lies in the northern part of Maharastra on the northern Deccan Plateau. Jalgaon of western India is a prominent collection and distribution center of agricultural goods. The area comprises volcanic soil and is appropriate for cotton production. The dominating products of the region include raw cotton. However, Jalgaon is a prime center of cotton-textile and vegetable oil mills, particularly groundnut-oil and hydrogenation plants.
