Kapurthala nestles close to Jalandhar in an area of across 650 sq miles. Kapurthala was once Fateh Singh Ahluwalia's royal capital. Situated towards the west of Jalandhar City at a distance of 19 kms, this capital town of an erstwhile princely state is named after its founder Nawab Kapur Singh. It is now the headquarters of the district in Punjab with the same territory. Guru Nanak Devji spent the early years of his life in and around Sultanpur Lodhi.. Gurudwara Ber sahib is here amid many other Gurudwaras. Other historical buildings here include Mazaar Shah, Hujra Hajira and a Serai , which is the oldest building in Sultanpur.
