Valiyapalli Church Situated in Thazhathangadi, 2 km from the center of the town Valiyapalli Church is dedicated to St. Mary, built in 1550 for the Knanaya Orthodox Syrians. It is famous for its 8th century Persian cross and the Pahalavi inscription on the cross.
Thirunakkara Mahadev Temple The temples lies in the heart of Kottayam. It features several murals. Multitude of devotees flock to this temple during the annual festival in the third week of March.
Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary This bird sanctuary lies 12 km west of Kottayam town. This Bird Sanctuary is famous for local varieties of Waterfowl, Cuckoo, and Water Ducks, as well as for the migratory Siberian Storks.
