    Kumbhalgarh Fort
    Kumbhalgarh fort is the second most remarkable fortress in the whole Mewar region after Chittorgarh. Set midst the verdurous Aravalli Range, this invincible fort was built by Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. The fort served as a refuge to the baby king Udai of Mewar and birthplace of legendary King Maharana Pratap. Fortified by the second longest wall that is 36km long and over 25 feet thick, Kumbhalgarh fort houses more than 360 Hindu and Jain temples and shrines including one with a huge Shivlinga dedicated to Lord Shiva. The most picturesque part of the fort is Badal Mahal or the palace of clouds that affords spectacular views of the Kumbhalgarh valley.

    Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary
    Kumbhalgarh sanctuary is located in the most rugged terrains of Kumbhalgarh. It derives its name from the historic Kumbhalgarh fort that overlooks the park. Spread across an area of 578 sq km, Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary is home to a diverse array of wild life species. Leopards, sloth bear, hyena, jackal, jungle cat, smabhar, nilgai, chaisingh (the four horned antelope), chinkara and hare could be seen here. The park boasts of spectacular bird diversity. Birds like grey jungle fowl, red spur owls, Parakeets, golden Oriole, grey Pigeons, Bulbul, Dove and white breasted kingfisher, peacock and doves can be spotted easily. Endowed with amazing natural beauty, it is one of the few parks that allows people on horseback. The best time to visit the reserve is from October to June.
