Jamaat Mosque Jamaat Mosque is a 280 year old mosque. Once upon a time the Hindu Prana Nambi family seized the belongings of the Muslims and later got afflicted with a fatal disease. To correct its misdeeds, the family built a mosque, which is known as the Jamaat Mosque. Near the mosque there is a mausoleum dedicated to the shaheeds of the Malappuram who laid down their lives in the Mopilla revolt.
Thirunavaya Thirunavaya used to serve as a venue for the grand assembly of the rulers of Kerala.Thirunavaya nestles on the banks of Bharatpuzha river. This assembly was significant since it was organized only once in twelve years and was accompanied by an extravagant festival. The last time this festival was organized was in 1755 AD. As of today Thirunavaya plays host to the annual Sarvodaya Mela.
Nilambur Nilambur is famous for its teak plantation and is the oldest one in the world. The plantation, "Conollys Plot' spreads over an area of 2.31 hectares nestles beside the Chaliyar river. Ferries are there to take you to a trip on the Chaliyar river. Nearby is the world's first teak museum which you can visit to gain knowledge of everything related to teak.
Ponani Ponani is one of the earliest ports of Kerala. It is located in the meeting point of the Bharatpuzha river and Tirupuzha river to the Arabian Sea. The Padinjarekkara beach here is a major point of interest. Here a number of migratory birds flock in season.
Tirur Tirur was a part of the first laid rail road in Kerala and was also the birthplace of the legendary 16th century Malayalam poet, Thunchathu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan. There is a memorial here dedicated to this Malayalam poet that remains festive during the month of January and February. Intellectuals and enthusiasts gather here and get plunged in discussions and recitals of poems.
Kottakkal Kottakkal is a town synonymous with the Arya Vaidyasala.
