    Phensong Monastery
    The Phensong Monastery, belonging to the Nyingmapa order of Tibetan Buddhism was built in 1721 during the time of Jigme Pawo. It is situated at Phodong in North Sikkim District on a smooth slope stretching from Kabi to Phodong. It also remains the venue for the annual festival of Chaam, which is performed on the 29th and 28th days of the tenth month of lunar calendar as per the Tibetan Calendar.

    Phodong Monastery
    Situated at the higher altitude in a small town of Phodong, Phodong Monastery is considered as one of the six main monasteries of Sikkim. It dates back to early 18th century and later on, it was rebuilt and it now serves as the residence for more than 260 monks. The monastery has a rich collection of ancient murals and many beautiful paintings. Phodang Gompa hosts the annual festival that takes place on the 28th and 29th day of the tenth month of the Tibetan Calendar (usually December). The celebrations of the festival include the performance of sacred dances by the monks.
