    Nathdwara, meaning the gate of god is one of the most revered Hindu pilgrims of India. Nestled on the banks of Benas River, the city is renowned for its 17th century old temple dedicated to lord Krishna. It is believed that lord Krishna himself selected the palace where now the shrine stands. According to a legend, the statue of lord Krishna was brought from Vrindavan to save it from the rage of Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb. The cart carrying the image is said to have been stuck here.     Srinathji Temple
    Devoted to Lord Krishna, Shrinathji Temple houses a black stone image of lord Krishna. Legend goes that that the statue was brought from Vrindavan in 1669 to protect it from Aurangazeb. The wheels of the cart carrying the statue were stuck in the deep mud while passing through Nathdwara, and consequently the Srinathji temple was built on the spot with the permission of the then Rana of Mewar at Nathdwara.

    Rajsamand Lake
    It is an artificial lake built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1660 in order to provide living to the drought stricken victims of Nathdwara. Fed by Gomti and Benas Rivers, Rajsamand is one of the biggest artificial lakes in Rajasthan. The embankments of the lake are adorned with many ornamental arches and beautifully carved chhatris (cenotaphs), erected in the memory of the rulers of Nathdwara.

    Nav Chowki
    Situated along the banks of Rajsamand Lake, Nav Chowki is a pillared structure, tiled with marble. The Chowki is titivated with many intricately carved chhatris and ornamental arches that give it a very elegant look.

    By Air: Udaipur is the nearest airport from Nathdwara. It is located about 48 km away.

    By Rail: Udaipur is the nearest railhead, which is well connected to Jaipur, Delhi and other parts of Rajasthan and North India.
