Havelis of Shekhawati
The magnificent region of Shekhawati has plethora of luxurious havelis and mansions built by the rich merchants and the rulers of the region. The lavishly decorated Havelis denoted the social and financial status of the Marwari merchants. These majestic structures display a unique architectural style with carved wooden gateway, richly carved windows and huge courtyards to ensure the safety and privacy of the women and protection from the scorching heat of the desert. Principally painted with the blue, maroon, yellows, green and indigo colors, the walls of the havelis are adorned with exquisite paintings that belong to 1830 AD to1900 AD. These beautiful paintings depict the mythological themes local legends, animals, portraits, hunting and wrestling scenes and chores of everyday life. During 19th century, the old painting motifs were replaced by the new motifs that blossomed with the influence of Raj upon the Indian culture. Cars, trains, balloons, telephones gramophones and English man clad in hunting attire took the place of elephants, traditional Indian miniatures and mythological themes depicting gods, lithographs and photographs. Some of the very famous havelis of Shekhawati are Goenka Havelis, Nand Lal Devra Haveli, Poddar Haveli, Aath Haveli, Khedwal Bhawan ,Nand Lal Devra Haveli, Murmuria Haveli and Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli to name a few .
Nawalgarh
Founded by Nawal Singh, Nawalgarh is famous for some of the best-preserved havelis and finest frescoes. Major tourist attractions here are Aath havelis (eight havelis) complex, Murarka haveli, Bansidhar Bhagat haveli Chokhani haveli, Gangamai temple and the old Poddar School that is the sole havelis in the whole Shekhawati district which has been maintained by its owner only.
Mandawa
The bustling town Mandawa was established by Shekhawats in 1755. The town is known for its impressive fort that now houses the most famous heritage hotel in the region, which is maintained in the classic medieval theme with the modern luxuries. The fort has multihued painted arched gateway adorned with Lord Krishna and his cows. Goenka double haveli, Nand lal Murmuria haveli, Chokhani double haveli, Gulab Rai Ladia haveli, Bansidhar Newatia havelis are the worth visiting places in Mandawa.
Ramgarh
The sleepy Ramgarh was once one of the richest towns of Shekhawati region. Ramgopal Poddar chhatri, group of Poddar chhatris, Shanicharji temple and havelis are noteworthy.
Laxmangarh
Dominating the blue sky of the town, Lachmangarh fort is one of the imposing forts of Shekhawati region. It was built in 19th century by Raja Lachhman singh of Sikar. The fort affords commanding view of the town that resembles the city plan of Jaipur
Dundlod
Dundlod is a small village situated near Nawalgarh. Its majestic fort, now converted in to a heritage hotel was constructed in 1750. Other tourist attractions of Dundlod are Chhatri of Ram Dutt Goenka, Jagathia Haveli, Satyanarayan Temple, and Tuganram Goenka Havelis .
Fatehpur
Founded in 1451, Fatehpur was once the capital of Nawabs before being taken over by Shekhawat Rajputs in the 18th century. Nand lal Devra haveli, Singhania havelis and Goenka havelis are must visit places.
Mahansar
Mahasar is noted for its Sone Chandi ki Haveli that dates back to1846. The havelis has three domed ceilings painted with the colouful paintings depicting the scenes from the great Ramayana and the life of Lord Krishna. The central dome is painted with the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Gold leaf work is the unique features of its intricate paintings.

By Air: The nearest airport is Sanganer airport at Jaipur, which is connected to all the metropolitan cities. Delhi airport is also the convenient base for the air travelers.
By Rail: The nearest railhead from Shekhawati region is Jaipur. The Shekhawati Express runs daily between Delhi and Jaipur stopping at Jhunjhunu, Mukundgarh and Sikar.
By Road: Shekhawati is well connected to Jaipur, Bikaner and the major cities of Rajasthan through wide network of roads
