Named after Lord Shiva, Shivpuri is a small district of Madhya Pradesh. Surrounded by luxuriant forests and undulating hills, it was the summer capital of the Scindia rulers of Gwalior. The lush green forests of Shivpuri were once the hunting grounds of Mughals. It is said that great emperor Akbar captured herds of mighty elephants here. The intricately carved temples and the glittering white marble cenotaphs erected by Scindhia ruler remind the princely past and the architectural beauty of Shivpuri.
