1. What is Domestic Travel Insurance?
Domestic Travel Insurance – Specially designed for Yatra Passengers is an insurance program that RELIANCE General Insurance Company Ltd offers to customers who book a ticket with Yatra for travel within India. This is an insurance policy designed to protect you in case of problems while traveling.

2. How can I purchase Domestic Travel Insurance?
You can purchase Domestic Travel Insurance while booking a flight ticket on our website, www.yatra.com.

 

3. Who can purchase Domestic Travel Insurance?
Any Indian national traveling within India can purchase Domestic Travel Insurance while booking their flight(s) on www.yatra.com.
Foreigner passengers holding passports of any other country other than India can purchase Domestic Travel Insurance if they have a work permit in India and are traveling within India.

 

4. Is there an age limit to be covered under Domestic Travel Insurance?
The minimum age of the Insured/Insured Person shall be 6 months and the maximum age shall be 70 years. Anyone between the ages of 6 months to 5 yrs will be covered only along with either of the parents/ guardian.

 

5. Can I purchase Domestic Travel Insurance if I'm traveling for more than 30 days?
No, Domestic Travel Insurance covers the passenger(s) for a period of 30 days from the date of inception of policy, which is the date of commencement of journey. Incase of a round trip purchased on Yatra the coverage will end with the return journey to the originating station or 30 days from the date of commencement of policy, whichever is earlier.

If you are traveling only one-way, then the policy is valid for 30 days from the date of travel. For example, if you are traveling from Delhi to Mumbai on 1st December 2008, then you are covered till 30th December 2008, even though your travel with Yatra was completed on 1st December 2008.

But if you are coming back to origin, either by a return flight or connecting flight(s) with Yatra or any other traveling media, then the travel policy expires on the date on which you reach originating city. For example, if you are traveling from Delhi to Mumbai on 1st December 08 and returning back to Delhi on 15th December 08 your policy will expire on 15th December 08, after completion of the travel.

 

6. Am I still covered by Domestic Travel Insurance if I catch a connecting flight to a different destination?
Coverage like trip cancellation, flight delay is only limited to flight tickets booked through Yatra.com. Other coverage is applicable for the validity period of the policy. For example if you are traveling from Delhi to Chennai on 1st December 08 via Mumbai, you book the Delhi - Mumbai flight on Yatra and you book the return flight directly on an airline’s website. For the return flight, you would be entitled only for benefits other than trip cancellation and flight delay which would only be restricted to the Delhi - Chennai part of your trip. For other mode of transport only accidental cover will be valid.

 

7. Who will be the beneficiary under this policy?
Benefits will be paid to the Insured Person's bona fide legal heir in the event of loss of life due to accident death. All other benefits will be payable to the Insured Person.

9. Can I cancel my Domestic Travel Insurance?>
No, the Domestic Travel Insurance is non-cancelable.

 

10. Is Domestic Travel Insurance refundable?
The Domestic Travel Insurance Policy is non-refundable.

 

11. Once I purchase the policy, can I change the date of my travel?
Domestic Travel Insurance cannot be changed once issued even if you are postponing or extending your trip.

 

12. Do I have to carry a copy of my Certificate of Insurance with me when traveling?
We encourage you to carry a copy of your Certificate of Insurance. However, please ensure that you have at least your Certificate Number and the 24 hour assistance service Number (022-30338282).

 

13. What can I do if I did not receive or lose my Certificate of Insurance?
Your Domestic Travel Insurance was successfully processed if it is reflected on the Confirmation Page and on your Yatra Itinerary.

16. How will my accidental medical expenses be paid under Domestic Travel Insurance?
You will be reimbursed for accidental medical expenses incurred as a result of a covered accident as detailed in the terms and conditions.

 

17. If I meet with an accident during the trip for how long will the medical treatment be available?
If you meet with an accident during the trip, the policy provides for medical expenses necessarily incurred for treatment up to the validity of policy which is 30 days from the commencement of the policy or return to originating city which ever is earlier.

 

18. Does Domestic Travel Insurance cover sports and other similar activities?
No, Domestic Travel Insurance does not cover sports and similar activities. For more details, please refer to the policy wordings of coverage.

 

19. Can I cancel my trip for any reason and get all my money back through my Trip Cancellation Benefit?
The Trip Cancellation Benefit is only applicable for reasons covered in the full policy wordings. Covered reasons include, but are not limited to, unforeseen emergencies such as illness, injury or death involving you, your travel companion and/or an immediate family member. Pre-existing conditions are not covered.

 

20. Does the policy cover pre-existing conditions?
No, the policy does not cover any pre existing conditions or complications arising there from.

 

21. What does my Baggage Loss Benefit cover?
The Company shall compensate the Insured / Insured Person for the total loss of checked-in baggage on a trip. The cover is limited to the travel destinations specified in the Proposal Form. All halts and via destinations included in this main travel ticket will be covered under this benefit. The compensation will be limited to the Sum Insured as specified in the Schedule to this Policy.

22. How can I file a claim?
In the event of an insurance claim, you can download a copy of our Notice of Claim Form from here. After completing the form, please send it to the contact information indicated in the document.

23. What is the time taken for processing a claim?
Claims will be processed within 15 days from the date you submit all the required documentation.

 

24. Is there a time limit within which I must file a claim?
For any claim against the policy immediate intimation is required. Claims documents for benefits must be submitted to the Company no later than one (1) month after the completion of the treatment or transportation home, or in the event of death, after transportation of the mortal remains/ burial.

 

25. What can I do if I have any question on claims settlement?

26. Who is responsible and liable for this policy?
