Itinerary: Chennai - Madurai – Thekkady - Kumarakom- Kochi – Kovalam - Mumbai
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Chennai
A Yatra representative will meet you at a location convenient to you in Chennai and transfer you in an air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel of stay. Check-in at your pre-booked hotel.

After checking-in at the hotel, you are at leisure for the rest of the day to explore the capital city of Tamil Nadu and the attractions/temples around. Spend the night at your hotel.

Day 2: Chennai
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken on a city tour of Chennai in an air-conditioned vehicle, accompanied by an English-speaking guide. In the evening, you will meet your fellow travelers over a welcome dinner followed by cocktails. After dinner, spend the night at your hotel.

Day 3: Chennai – Mahabalipuram - Madurai
After a hearty breakfast, set out on a morning excursion of Mahabalipuram, located on the Coromandel Coast facing the Bay of Bengal. It is about 58 kilometres from Chennai.

This 7th century seaport of the Pallava dynasty is renowned not only for its architecture, but the vast casuarinas trees, silvery beaches and handmade artifacts. The historical richness, legends and grandeur of Mahabalipuram fascinates every visitor. Find out from your guide interesting facts about the Pallavas and the cruel king Mahabali, who was killed by Lord Vishnu in a fierce battle.

After exploring this quaint seaside town, return to Chennai for a flight to Madurai. From Madurai Airport, you will be transferred to a hotel in the city for your overnight stay.

Day 4: Madurai
After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit the 1,000 pillared Meenakshi Amman Temple and Tirumalai Palace. You are at leisure for the rest of the day to explore the ‘temple city of India’ at your own pace. Enjoy an early dinner and return to Meenakshi Temple for the evening pooja (prayer) closing ceremony.

After the ceremony, return to your hotel and spend the night.

Day 5: Madurai/Thekkady
After breakfast, drive through lush farmlands to your hotel in Thekkady. Thekkady is a wildlife centre and a scenic hill station in central Kerala, about 136 kilometers from Madurai. It is home to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary which offers ample scope for treks and mountain walks. Check-in at a hotel in Thekkady and freshen up for a special discourse on Ayurveda by a resident doctor. This will be followed by a cooking demonstration on traditional Kerala cuisine.

Day 6: Thekkady / Kumarakom
After breakfast, travel overland to the tropical backwater villages of Kumarakom, about 175 kilometers from Thekkady. Nestled on the shores of Kerala’s Vembanad Lake, Kumarakom is a beautifully sleepy village ideal for a laidback holiday. Boating, fishing and sightseeing options abound here.

Arrive at the resort in Kumarakom for your overnight stay. You are at leisure for the rest of the day.

Day 7: Kumarakom
After a lavish breakfast, take time out to explore around the resort. In addition to a tour of the fragrant spice plantation. Spend the rest of the day doing your own thing. Overnight at the resort.

Day 8: Kumarakom / Alleppey / Kochi
After breakfast, set out on a private boat ride on the backwaters to Alleppey for a glimpse into the village life in Kerala. Further on, proceed to Kochi, a fishing port and a cosmopolitan hub. This evening, you will enjoy a Kathakali dance performance. Check-in at a hotel in Kochi and spend the night.

Day 9: Kochi
After breakfast, continue on a sightseeing tour of the historical city of Kochi. Accompanied by your guide, visit the Jewish Synagogue, Fort Cochin and the Dutch Palace. This evening, you will be taken to the home of a local Indian family for high tea. After experiencing the local way of life, return to your hotel in Kochi and spend the night.

Day 10: Kochi / Kovalam
After a sumptuous breakfast, set out on a scenic drive to Kovalam. An erstwhile fishing village known for its fresh fish, fruits and toddy (coconut beer), Kovalam in Kerala is often referred to as the ‘Paradise of the South’. Idyllic and flamboyant, the Kovalam beach has a character of its own.

Check-in at a beachfront hotel in Kovalam. You are at leisure for the rest of the day to enjoy a refreshing swim or simply relax on the beach. Spend the night at the hotel.

Days 11 and 12 : Kovalam
You will find ample time for yourself in these two days, indulge in optional activities at the hotel such as spa treatments or boat rides. An optional excursion to Kanyakumari, the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, can be arranged for you. Return to your hotel and spend the nights.

Day 13: Kovalam / Trivandrum / Mumbai
Tuck into a hearty breakfast and spend a leisurely morning before an afternoon flight to Mumbai. After arriving at Mumbai, check-in at a hotel and spend the night.

Day 14: Mumbai
In the morning, set out on a cruise through Mumbai Harbor to the rock-cut cave temples on Elephanta Island. This afternoon, you will also visit the Prince of Wales Museum, the Dhobi Ghat and Mani Bhawan exhibiting the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi.

Day 15: Departure from Mumbai
After breakfast, you will be dropped at the international airport or any location convenient to you in Mumbai for your onward journey.

- Standard check-in/check-out times at all hotels will be 12 noon.
