Leh , the capital of Ladakh is situated at a height of 3505 Meters . Crisscrossed by river Zanskar, Leh has been the center of Buddhist culture for a long time. Tucked by Grand Himalayas, it remains a dream destination of every avid traveler. Leh boasts of many Beautiful painted Gompas and the toughest treks in the world.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Delhi
On arrival at Delhi airport; meet our tour representative who would escort you to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel in Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi
After breakfast,take a tour of old Delhi comprising magnificent Red Fort, Jama Masjid, largest mosque in Asia, both built by Shahjahan,Rajghat-Memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, the "Father of the Nation". In Afternoon, enjoy the tour of New Delhi that includes the sightseeing of HumanyunTomb,Qutab Minar, India Gate, Birla Mandir, Bahai Temple. Optional tours in the evening can be arranged for sound and light show at the Red Fort or local dance show. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 3: Delhi - Leh
After breakfast, drive to the airport and board the flight to leh. Our representative will meet and transfer you to the Hotel. Rest of the day free to acclimatize to the high altitude of Ladakh. In the evening, take a small round trip to Shanti Stupa for the beautiful sunset view over the entire Leh Valley. Overnight stay at Hotel in Leh.
Shanti stupa (Japanese Peace Pagoda): Shanti Stupa/Japanese peace pagoda was built by Japanese in 1985 with the support of Japenese government.It is situated on the hill top in Changspa village providing a bird’s eye view of the Leh town and the surrounding mountain peaks. Architecturally it has the Japanese touch with small clean meditation rooms and the main Japanese shrine at the entrance.
Day 4: Monastery tour and Sindhu Darshan.
Morning after breakfast, drive to Thiksey village. Visit Thiksey monastery and continue driving to Shey Village to visit Shey Palace and Gompa. Later on the way back to Leh, get down at the Sindhu Ghat for Darshan and walk along the river Sindhu. After spending some time at the river drive back to the Hotel and relax. You can carry a picnic lunch or relish a late hot lunch at the hotel.. (Please check the buffet timings at your hotel in case of lunch). Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
Thiksey gompa: 19 Kms from Leh, spectacularly sited, Thiksey is one of the largest and architecturally most impressive Gompas in India. There are several temples in this Gompas, containing images, stupas and wall paintings of Buddha, which are exquisite.
Shey palace and gompa: Situated on a hillock 15 Kms upstream from Leh, it was once the residence of the royal family of Ladakh. A 7.5 mts high copper statue of Buddha plated with gold and the largest of its kind is installed here.
Sindhu ghat: The Sindhu Ghat at Choglamsar village is situated at the bank of River Indus. Every year Sindhu festival is celebrated at Sindhu Ghat. This festival offers a perfect opportunity to travelers to know the local traditions of this place.
Day 5: Excursion to Khardungla Pass (78 Km round trip)
After breakfast prepare yourself for the ultimate adventure,a thrilling drive up to the Kardungla You will be spell bound by the magnificent view of the surrounding valleys. After spending some time there, come back to Hotel and relax. You can carry a picnic lunch or take lunch at hotel. (Please check the buffet timings at the hotel in case of lunch). Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Leh.
khardungla pass: The road journey to Nubra valley leads through Khardung La pass (The highest Motorable road in the world) 18,390 ft. around 39 Kms. Away from Leh. There are two checkpoints on the both sides of the pass. Khardong is the first village of Nubra valley.
Day 6: Day free at Leh
Today you can relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the Leh town. You may also walk down to the local bazaar to buy souvenirs that will remind you of your small rendezvous with Ladakh.
Day 7: Leh - Delhi
Leave on time for Leh airport to board your flight to Delhi. Spend some time in local markets shopping and enjoy the local delicacies of Delhi. Drive to international airport to board the
Flight back home.
