Kuwait Airways is the national airline of Kuwait and is wholly owned by the Kuwaiti Government. Its main base is Kuwait International Airport in Kuwait City. It operates scheduled international services throughout the Middle East, to Europe, the Far East and North America. Two Kuwaiti businessmen conceived the idea of Kuwait airways in 1953 and established it in the year 1954. Year later Kuwait airways was affected by several financial crisis and so the Kuwait government took a 50% stake in Kuwait Airways. Later the government took 100% stake in Kuwait airways.
The Kuwait airlines currently flies to 38 destinations across the world. In India, Kuwait Airways flies to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram
Kuwait Airways has added another feature of convenience for its passengers by introducing the telephone or fax check-in services for First & Business Class, Oasis Club Golden & Silver Cardholders.
Kuwait Airways got associated with Kuwait Red Crescent for providing relief for the less privileged and to bring a smile to their faces'. For this Kuwait Airways launched 'BALSAM', a humanitarian project jointly with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society. The objective of 'BALSAM' is to encourage passengers to donate coins or currencies, the different kinds of currencies collected is then forwarded to the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, to be used in rescue operations and social services, for casualties and prisoners of war, as well as for needy children.
