The Sirmaur district lies in the southeastern corner of Himachal Pradesh. Sirmour is well known as a pilgrimage center and also for the legends that carries with it. The district lies in Shivalik Ranges, that is, in outer Himalayan Ranges. Nahan
This is a historic town idyllicaly nestled on a ridge of Shivalik hills, has a viewpoint over emerald forests and valleys with the Churdhar Peak 3,647 meters leading the scene. It is nice place for making short or long treks. Nahan has three popular waking circuits, the Villa round, Hospital round and Military round, which are worth wading through. Nahan is renowned for its Bawan Dwadashi Festival which helds every year in the month of September.
Paonta Sahib
It is a sanctified city dedicated to the memory of the tenth Guru of Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh. It situates on the right bank of river Yamuna and 45-km from Nahan on Nahan-Dehradun road. Paonta means, "foot" and the name is derived because the Guru set foot here or he lost his ring while taking bath in river Yamuna. Thousands of followers flock here at the spring festivals of Holi and Baisakhi.
Bhangani
This is the place 23 kilometers from Paonta Sahib where the Guru defeated the combined forces of twenty-two hill rulers, three of whom died fighting. Their wives, in grief, immolated themselves and monuments in Bhangani were raised to the dead rulers and their wives.
Sirmuri Tal
It is the site of ancient town of Sirmour situated about 16-km northwest of Paonta Sahib on the river Giri.
