Drass lies at an altitude of 3,300 meters, 60 kilometers west of Kargil on the way to Srinagar.The small town Drass lies in the epicenter of the valley called Drass. Widely known as the second coldest dwelling place in the earth Drass witnesses sever amount of snowfall during winters.
This is the place, which is known to have witnessed the phenomenal plummet of temperature to -40°. During summers, the tracts look pleasant pastoral sight. In this area the spoken dialect is christened after the weather - "Hambabs" meaning snowfall. For both cereals and cash crops the fields around Drass are cultivated. Drass has many monasteries worth making a visit.

Zoji La
The Drass valley originates from the foot of the Zoji La pass, the Himalayan doorway to Ladakh. For centuries, its people are recognized to have bargained this frightening pass during the most hazardous time in the autumn, when the whole part remains snow draped.
Puga Valley
For hot water springs the Puga velley is much talked about. For a bath in the hot water springs many tourist come to this place every year. This help to cure rheumatism and skin diseases.
How to get there
Srinagar is well connected with rest of the country via Air and Road through National Highway NH IA. Buses running between Srinagar and Kargil/Leh touch Drass. Local buses leave Kargil in the morning and afternoon for Drass.
