What are the differences between direct flights, non-stop flights and connecting flights?

• Non-stop flights: Non-stop flights are self-explanatory. These flights fly without stopping at another city in-between and simply takes you from your origin to your destination in one flight.
• Direct flights: A direct flight is one that stops one or more times on the way to the final destination. During the stops at mid-point airports, many passengers disembark, many passengers board while others who are travelling to the final destination remain seated. They are also required to identify their cabin baggage before the flight can take off again. Though some direct flights may require you to change a plane but is called a direct since all flights involved share the same flight number. A Kolkata to Goa Indigo Airlines flight via Hyderabad will reach your destination in 3 hour 50 minutes.
• Connecting flight: Here passengers have to disembark from at least one aircraft and board a new flight i.e. an intermediate or connecting point to complete their journey or a part of the journey. This means you have to fly at least two different aircraft with two different flight numbers to land at your chosen destination. Connecting flights usually turn out to be cheaper than non-stop flights. The Kolkata to Goa flight duration on a connecting flight is always longer than that of a non-stop flight, making the latter more expensive.

The only issue I had in travelling in the aircraft of GoAir is that I had an severe headache and ear pain during landing and takeoff, this was the first and only time I felt discomfort during air-travel.

As for flight is concerned it was on time. Only one thing I want to draw your attention that I have Booked my flight From Kolkata to Goa and got my borading pass at kolkata itself and the luggage too was booked for goa. But most dis-satisfying fact was that I was not provided any hospitelity at Mumbai Airport. When I asked if there was any lounge for the transit passenger they simply refussed. The departure time of flight was 6AM and check in was at 5AM hence I had to leave my house at 4.15Am to reach in time. At Mumbai Airport there was not any provision from the airlines for any meal. Even in the Goa flight they served only One Tetra Packed juice and a Sandwich. The breakfast in the flight was OK but the service after reaching Mumbai was very poor apart from punctuality.

There is no in-line baggage scanning in Kolkata airport. I was informed about this only after I checked in and boarding pass was issued. I was then asked to repeat the whole process once again. Different airports have different systems, and it would be useful if passengers were informed about this in advance. (The flight was also delayed, but I am sure that was not the airline's fault).

The pitch of the seats is somewhat constricting, an additional knee space of about 10 cm would be welcome. Otherwise my wife and I were very pleased with our flights with AirIndigo.
