The Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Air Terminal or Gwalior airport as it is more commonly called, is jointly operated by the IAF (Indian Air Force) and AAI (Airports Authority of India). It has two parallel runways, one being for the IAF. It is well-connected to Indore and has flights to New Delhi too.

The Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Airport Terminal serves the city of Gwalior and is one of the four airports in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The airport is spread over 29.5 acres and is situated at a height of 188 meters above sea-level. Situated 10 km north-east of Gwalior, it is a civil enclave airport at the Maharajpur Air Force Station. It is jointly operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The Gwalior airport is primarily an IAF airbase, with the unique distinction of having two operational parallel runways. Under the UDAN scheme of the Govt. of India (an endeavor to boost regional connectivity between various cities, with a minimum distance of 800 km between them), domestic flights to select destinations were started from here in May 2017.

Currently, the airport has one terminal for domestic flights, which can handle upto 200 passengers at a time. The airlines that provide domestic flights out of Gwalior Airport to destinations such as Indore and New Delhi are Air India and Alliance Air. These flights operate thrice a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
