History The 8th largest state of India, Andhra Pradesh traces its historical timeline to the Vedic Age. Established in 1953, this state was a part of Northern Circars – a region that later emerged as Coastal Andhra – during the colonial rule. Post independence, for the interest of Telugu-speaking community, the state was sculpted out of Madras with Kurnool as its capital city. The region witnessed the reign of numerous empires like Satavahana, Ikshvakus, Pallavas, Chola and Vijayanagar.
