location of the Hotel is good. Tawang Market and Bus stand, Auto stand are at walking distance. Staff at the hotel are good and helpful. However, the food if not good at all. They have lot of items in the menu but taste was not good at all. Hotel needs to be more professionally managed.

  • Dolma Cottage

Sordid experience with Dolma Cottage (Dolma Khangsar / Dolma group hotel / Dolma Chhinkar. It has different names) I booked Dolma Cottage, Tawang, from Yatra.com the cottage shown on the yatra site was a single storey property and I chose it as my wife had problem in climbing stairs. On reaching Tawang we drove towards the hotel location shown on the map, but couldnt find it. We called the hotel on the mobile number given on the booking slip the person told that the location of the hotel shown on the map was not correct, however, he could not give correct coordinates. He tried to guide us on phone and we kept wandering for more than half an hour finally he had to send someone to guide us to hotel. Another shock came when we found it to be a four storey building and despite our request we were allotted a third floor room. It was just a small guest house room not worth the price that we had paid ie. Rs. 3400/- per night. No drinking water not even glasses, no arrangement for preparing tea coffee in room. No hand shower in toilet not even a tap near toilet seat. On insisting our booking was for a cottage he revealed that there were two adjacent single storey rooms the so called cottages and we shifted there next morning but then it was no better - rather poorly connected with main building. Rooms were equipped with room heater which was much needed but then electric supply kept playing hide and seek on second day. We had also paid Rs 5000/- to Hotel and all necessary documents were sent in advance for arranging Bumla Pass permit along with suitable vehicle, as visitors vehicles are not allowed to Bumla Pass. Next day It had light showers early morning however we got ready at 8 AM and though some vehicles were there, we were made to wait on the pretext that the vehicle allotted to us has yet to come. Finally our vehicle Tata Sumo came and we boarded in it. We asked him to show the permit to which he said its a joint permit for 4 vehicles but he couldnt show it to us. He drove us upto Y Point (approx. 20 kms) from where roads to Bumla Pass and Madhuri Lake separate. Before reaching there he started saying its not advisable to go further in this bad weather and we can take a city ride instead. However as all other vehicles were going we asked him to continue. At Y point army personnel asked all vehicles to tie metal chain on the wheels however all the vehicles continued their journey to Madhuri Lake without fixing chain on the wheels. As we insisted our driver to tie the chain he said no one is tieing it. As it is a pre-requisite for driving to Bumla Pass we asked if his vehicle is equipped with chain, he said he has one chain but he kept insisting on going back as there had been snowfall the previous night. Before reaching Madhuri Lake snowfall started again. After staying there for half an hour we started our return journey and by this time the road had got covered with snow and two vehicles ahead of us got stuck in the snow. After trying in vein for sometime they tied metal chain and could successfully make way through the snow but our driver didnt have any chain and he just tried to follow them but his jeep couldnt move. Since it blocked the way for vehicles behind us, the drivers of those vehicles tried to help by pushing it 2-3 times. They finally could push its tyres by putting rubber mat beneath the tyres. The weather was bad and we couldnt visit Bumla Pass - but the jeep driver instead of admitting his mistake that he didnt carry metal chain and put us in trouble, started blaming us for insisting him to drive to Madhuri Lake. It is advisable to check that allotted vehicle is equipped with at least two metal chains to drive through in case there is snowfall. Hotel provided us the vehicle with out metal chain for driving on snow.
