French Haveli provides an exquisite experience, away from the noises of the city. Its location in the lanes of the old city makes the experience more amazing as the guests get a feel of the culture of the city. The chatter of the children playing in the streets is pleasing to the ears. The tastefully done interiors lend a charm to the stay. Mohan with his ever helpful attitude added to the experience. Not to forget the sumptuous breakfast spread served by Bansi. Overall had a beautiful stay, though a short one.

The interior decoration of the haveli is in very good taste. Lovely pieces of textiles in the bedrooms. The bathrooms are very nice & functionnal. The dining room had a very pleasant atmosphere. Breakfast & meals were delicious. We should mention however that the French Haveli is not suitable for ederly people or slightly disabled persons ; the stairs to the rooms are indeed very steep. It is located in the old city & is a good start to explore this patrimonial city.

We spent two nights at this haveli and enjoyed the experience The location is its asset and liability. So let me elaborate.. It is hard to access on wheels. But Mohan, the establishment's lynchpin, met us on the main road and led us thru the dirty and unnerving streets leading to the haveli. Not recommended for those who are not up to climbing steep stairs or walking deftly. The roads around the haveli are narrow filthy with open drains on both sides, cows, dogs, honking two-wheelers and auots jostling with pedestrians. The smells and cacophony of a densely packed, many centuries old, community can be intimidating to most and charming to some. The haveli itself is quaint, and very well managed by the smiling and efficient duo of Mohan and Bansi. Check out their filter coffee. It is very french. Breakfast is sumptuous. we din't eat lunch or dinner here so can't comment on the rest of the food. Rooms are comfortable. Would recommend it for those seeking an unvarnished experience of the Indian heartland within a modern city.

I was happy to stay at French Haveli for my first nights and last nights of my 3 week trip in India. the staff are super friendly and helpful, and they cook a lovely breakfast. It's a beautifully renovated old haveli, with modern touches for conveniences worked seamlessly in to the maintenance of the old building. The second room I had was filled with cabinets and looked like it had been the former linen room. Speaking of linens, the sheets and bed spreads are from Fabindia and totally add to the charm of the place. At first, it seems like it will be hard to find, but it's not at all-- all the drivers know the subway stop that they mention in the directions, and then once you are in the Pol (quaint neighborhood with tiny streets) then you can ask people and they will tell you the way to the Jain temple, and it's right behind it. Even arriving at 3 AM and 4 AM, (my worst nightmare that I try to avoid) I felt fine getting there and they were ready to open the door for me-- in fact, the owner had been awaiting my arrival and the staff member who opened the door for me must've texted him, and at 4 AM, he sent me a friendly "welcome" text!

It is a refurbished and renovated haveli in a slightly more modern part of the old city area. it is close to the heritage walk locations and also to the famous Manek chowk. The rooms are done up well but reaching the rooms is a tough climb....so only those with no disabilities can stay here. Also service is super slow, so in case you are looking for hotel efficiency you will be disappointed. If you have not informed...you will not get a meal. i liked the place for its experience....the food is not something to write home about.
