Ahmednagar is a historic city which is located in the largest district of Maharashtra. Situated on the banks of the Sina River, the city is at a distance of about 120 km from Pune. The presence of 19 sugar factories in Ahmednagar facilitates its export to various other cities which is a major revenue earner. The city is well-connected with some of the major cities of Maharashtra like Pune, Nashik, Solapur, Beed and Aurangabad. Therefore, travellers can conveniently visit the city and adore various Ahmednagar tourist places.
There are many historical places in Ahmednagar, primary among which is the Ahmednagar Fort constructed in 1490. This massive fort is circular in shape and is exquisitely designed. Jawaharlal Nehru made a mention of this colossal fort in his book ‘The Discovery of India’.
Another place of immense historic significance is the Tomb of Salabat Khan ll, which is commonly known as Chand Bibi's Mahal. When on a trip to Ahmednagar, tourists must not forget to visit Tank Museum and Baugh Rauza. Shani Shinganapur, Sanket Farm and Newasa are other places in the proximity of Ahmednagar where tourists can spend some quality time.
