We have stayed at many hotels over the years, often luxury ones with impeccable details and fantastic designs. Price-wise was never a factor with these better-class hotels. But the comparison with GREEN WOOD was not possible, it is not a luxury place. Yet, in ten years from now, Im sure we will still fondly remember the vacation we had there.

Green Wood Cottage is one of the many budget-friendly resorts found in and around Nagaon and Alibaug. The biggest advantage of the resort is its location. It is located at the Shivaji status junction, which is a central and convenient spot from travel perspective. The Nagaon beach is at a walking distance of about 2-3 kms from the resort, Another plus of this resort is that it is spread across a large lush green area lined with coconut and mango trees. You can relax in one of the many hammocks dotting the landscape. There is a children's play area, decent amount of parking space, and a dinning area among the other facilities. The resort features a few pet animals and birds such as rabbits and ducks. The flock of ducks tend to roam around the resort freely and they form a big attraction for kids who seem to enjoy chasing them. The food is reasonably good and the service is awesome. On less-crowded days, you get a choice to select your preference of food, but you need to let them know in advance. The resort facilities are okay. They provide neat and clean rooms with basic amenities. The rooms are big and spacious with common balconies and optional a/c. Most of the rooms are cottages, but a few are 1+1 apartment types. All-in-all, Green Wood serves the purpose of most revellers in and around Nagaon/Alibaug!

Visited with extended family. A place for a comfortable stay and good value for money. Room with 3 large beds, for six people, recently refurbished with contrast walls in bright bold colours. Bathroom and Toilet Facilities were basic and good. Air- conditioning and Satellite TV provided with good safe electrical fittings and proper charging points. In the heat of summer, the AC room was good for an afternoon siesta and for the infants to get rest too. Each cottage unit has four rooms - two at ground level, and two on the first floor. In front, a porch with sit out chairs & a table. On the side, a small wash basin and tap (for feet wash) available so that guests can clean up before entering the room. Spaced out area, with hammocks for relaxing and open spaces for badminton, cricket or aerobics. Ample car parking is also available close by the cottage unit. A very good family-friendly setting, with ducks, geese & turkey providing a farm feel, and dedicated play areas for kids too. The dining area is also very comfortable, and larger tables to cater to the larger families and groups available. Breakfast, Tea and Meals provided from the kitchen if ordered. The food here is a great experience. While the place does not boast of a menu or variety, the local Konkan cuisine featured is the highlight and quality sumptuous meals are provided here. Our lunch which was Fish Thali, featuring Surmai (King Fish) (or fish of choice based on availability), a tangy coconut kokum prawns gravy dish, Sol Kadi (a cooling drink of kokum and coconut milk), salad and ready hot Chapatis followed by rice made up the Fish Thali experience, and we added in Chicken Masala Roast added on, made our day. The warm personal hospitable service makes this more like a home stay rather than a hotel/resort. A family venture, with owner Mr. Daniel Melit, Mama Vaman Vartak and other staff in attendance was very warm and co-operative. Locationwise, if arriving by bus (or sharing auto/tum tum) from Alibag, the gate of the resort is opposite the Shivaji Statue point. Perfect when arriving or departing from the resort. The Shivaji Statue is also the start of the road leading to the beach. The Nagaon beach is quite long, and the closest point on the beach is a kilometer from here. The central beach is about 3 km, with autorickshaws available. Cars can drive down to the beach too. Unable to rate certain parameters since this was a Day trip and not an overnight stay... Certainly resolve to come back...

We had stayed here with friends and their kids in Feb 2016. The place is one of the best value for money and offers good rooms. It's definitely not a luxury hotel but has all the amenities for kids. The place is filled with Ducks, rabbits and cats and is good for kids to play with play areas too. Also has Hammocks for relaxing. So overall quite a value for money place.

Had stayed at this cottage last week. Had gone there with a group of friends. It is a refreshing place with very spacious rooms and open places to play around. The staff is very cordial and helpful. The owner also helps to a great extent while arranging for transport and other such situations. However, we were not allowed to do the barbeque. Instead, they made us buy their starters. Food provided is tasty. Over all a good place to visit. We paid Rs 1400 per head for an over night stay that included 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 1 dinner.
