  • Probably best in Alipurduars

    by dr_acm on

Located in central market place, small hotels with good sized rooms, mattress wornout, linen needs replacement, food was acceptable, service okay. It has a bar & attached liqueur shop which keeps the place busy. Hotel has no parking.

  • Professionally managed budget hotel

    by Anisha S on

Hotel Dooars Mountain seems to be among the best of the hotels available in this small town. Receptionists are professional, English, Hindi and Bangla are spoken. Rooms are clean, and the bathrooms are functional. Breakfast is a pretty large and serviceable spread, including a dosa/egg live counter. They have a bar (the only one in Alipurdooar!) which turns into a smoke-infested, male-only den in the evening, but the manager was kind enough to relocate us to a better room. They can organise transport for you, which was fine as well.

  • Felt Bad at Dooars Mountain

    by SubhasisK16 on

We decided to stay here for a night during return from Bhutan tour . Initial discussion over phone with a lady at reception went well and we checked in around late evening . The AC deluxe room, we had chosen, was average with all basic amenities . We suddenly found one lizard around big window in the room and reported that to the houskeeping guy . Didn't expect that . We liked the restaurant area and the staffs for their professional and helping attitude . The food we ordered for dinner and next day lunch was also tasty and hygienic . But, complementary breakfast spread was somewhat limited . Ultimately we didn't like the hotel for their last minute unprofessional attitude . We requested reception staffs during check in to accommodate us until around 2:30 pm, if possible, as we had train from Alipurduar Junction around 4 pm next day . We also told them we would leave the room immediately post 12 pm whenever they say . Accordingly, we packed our luggage, well in advance, in the morning so that anytime we can checkout whenever they inform us . Suddenly, a reception staff (the person, I requested) entered in the restaurant while we were having our lunch around 2 pm and misbehaved with me infront of everyone - my wife, 10 year old son and all the restaurant staffs as if we forcefully blocked the room and are not checking out even after repeated request from them . I was stunned and really felt bad for this type of unprofessionalism from them. There were not much guests and they had other similar available rooms in the hotel . They could not continue their good behaviour atleast for a day . Prior to this incident, we were thinking to stay there everytime/every year we go to New Alipurduar . We immediately left the hotel within just 5 minutes . We frequently travel throughout the year and never faced this situation anywhere before . Could not recommend this hotel to anyone specially, a family .

  • A very nice hotel with high food prices

    by Dr Abhishek D on

This Hotel is one of the best I have stayed in North Bengal. Everything about the hotel is impressive:the entrance, staff behaviour, room layout, food service etc. However,as with all good things, there are certain riders, and it would be helpful to specify those for my fellow travellers: 1.The food prices are quite high: Example: A tawa Roti costs Rs 35+10% room service charge+GST 2.The house-keeping is absolutely rubbish,as they don't even replace the drinking water if you dont ask them to (in the hope of tips, maybe?) 3.Though the premium rooms come with complimentary breakfast, the breakfast is dreadfully the same everyday I think you get the gist.... All in all,a great hotel with some flaws....

  • Very pleasant and comfortable hotel

    by PlaneJunkie237 on

This was my first time visiting friends in the Alipurduar area, and this hotel was a very pleasant surprise. The staff made us feel welcome, and provided a very spacious, clean, attractive, and comfortable room hours ahead of the official check-in time, since we had arrived very early on the overnight train. I was very pleased with the food available...the breakfast buffet was excellent, not only with the food on the buffet line but also including cooked-to-order eggs. Room service provided our order within a reasonable time, attractively presented and excellent in quality. The restaurant had a large but not overwhelming menu with great variety of dishes from snacks to full meals, and I was very happy with the flavor and presentation of everything I ordered during our stay. There were a couple of little oversights that may seem trivial but they did affect the overall impression...the rubbish bin in the bathroom, next to the toilet, had evidently not been cleaned or presented with a liner, and the foul smell from it (before being used for our stay) was very pervasive and sickening. Also, as our friends and I dined in the restaurant during a rather slow time of the afternoon, the messy table next to us remained uncleared the entire two hours, even though there were staff members around, apparently unoccupied. These things are small, but they kept it from being more of a 5-star experience. The prices for the room and the food seemed very reasonable, to me, and I would highly recommend this hotel for its accommodation as well as its restaurant.
