Run by a very nice family. Location is a little off the beat and track. But surroundings were beautiful and food they provided was amazing. Rooms and kitchen were both impeccably clean. Price was reasonable. Would have been five stars if it was not for all the plastic pollution in the backwaters - which in fairness, isnt the hotels fault. This, unfortunately, is a problem all over Kerala. There is tonnes of plastic litter in every beautiful location, which is a consequence of there being no solid waste disposal system anywhere in the state - so people have no choice but to throw their plastic in the streets. Whatever you do, DONT BRING ANY PLASTIC TO KERALA WHICH YOURE NOT GOING TO TAKE HOME, because anything you leave will inevitably end up in the backwaters, streets, and seas.

We stayed here as a we had pre-booked the punted house boat for a night. The host was kind enough to arrange a room for us at the farm house the night before as we found ourselves at a loose end, he threw in AC for free at the last minute as we had asked for this and been told it was not available initially. The room at the farm house was clean and basic - fine for one night. The food was good, this is not included in the price of the room. We did find the vibe of the place wasnt our cup of tea, but if you are into Ayurvedic massage, treatments and meditation it will be right up your street. We met others who were staying here for this and loved it. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the houseboat: due to the wind the men punting the boat were not able to take us very far and we had to return to the farm house to dock as you need an electricity connection which we were unaware of when we booked (not quite so romantic but ok). The men also promised to take us out in a smaller boat when we returned, unfortunately what this turned out to be was a small canoe just for us two...not exactly a guided tour, I myself am not a strong swimmer so asked for a life jacket, which was not available so they gave us a ring at least, but I didnt feel very safe. One of the men who was punting the boat was very friendly and pointed out lots of birds, he was also attentive providing food and drinks. However we felt he let himself down as he appeared to be a drinking toddy throughout the day, and then struggled to dock the boat.. The food on the boat was included in the price, and was very good. But there was a smell of sewage from the boat once docked which was not particularly pleasant. If you are bothered geckos, mice or mosquitoes you may also want to avoid the houseboat. We quite liked watching the geckos however, and they were eating the flies! The boat itself did look nice though, and is in theory better for the environment.

Located along the river, my room is spacious and quiet. I go by boat to the village not far and discovers the authenticity of Kerala. Situated not far from the centers of interest of Kerala, I find the evening after my excursions, beauty and calm, the unbelievable Aebi Ayurvedic massages and its family which is at the care for my stay. Thank U I would like never leave ! Very safe, authentic and quiet place.

We have spent 14 days in "Cherivally Backwater Farm House" resort, 23 kms South from Cochin , while we followed an ayurdeva treatment in Matt India. The place is idyllic, peaceful and absolutely relaxing. It is located in the very heart of the backwaters and it enjoys incredible views over the dammed waters that mirror thousands of palm tree and where hundreds of birds fly . Both dawns and sunsets are appaling with the light shifts reflecting on the water. From time to time engineless boats cross these waters, providing a completely idyllic image of the place. The resort consists of a series of bungalows, located on the banks of the channels and surrounded by a porch with some deckchairs that allow you to fully enjoy this beautiful environment . Bedrooms are big, simply but pleasantly furnished. The bathroom is also large and very comfortable, built roofless. The whole of it makes you feel in touch with nature. Meals are served in the open air, in a kind of dining room by the water . All the guests meet to eat together, which is very entertaining and enriching . Food is plentiful and excelent, carefully cooked by Kumar and Babu , who serve delicious courses from Kerala gastronomy. The family who runs the resort is really friendly and welcoming , always willing to solve any problem or emergency. Their children Abel and Emma cheer up everybody witth their lovely presence and company. This a marvellous place to rest, to follow ayurdeva treatment , make a boat trip accross the backwaters and spend some days in full touch with nature, far from the citys stressful life and daily problems. If are so lucky as to go back to Kerala, we will definitely accommodate in this wonderfun place. Finally, I would like to emphasize the excellent rate price/quality, as well as the devotedness of Eby and his wife to make the stay there unforgettable. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anybody who enjoys the contact with nature and who wishes to rest surrounded by beauty and by a charming family atmosphere.
