Absolutely amazing food and the lunch was probably the best food we have had in India. Very beautiful villa in a nice rural village. We particularly liked the open air shower and also the comfy chairs on the veranda which we enjoyed relaxing on in the shade. There's not a lot to do here but it is very luxurious.

Just got back after a 4 day stay at this resort. The location is absolutely spectacular! The homestay is by the banks of a river, and is a large property with 3 ponds and endless rice fields behind the property. Easiest access by boat, though there is road access too (10 km longer if you come from kochi) The granary room is the coziest and also the cheapest, but you may find the occasional ant on your mattress, as the mattress is on the floor. We also tried the heritage room (bad experience here as we got bit by something, maybe ants/bedbugs/giant mosquitoes) and the Venice room (beautiful, no critter problem). The venice rooms are isolated, and the best if you are seeking quiet and peaceful solitude. The heritage and granary rooms are part of the front of the house, and you will hear even low conversations of other guests through the thin walls. The location is absolutely amazing, cannot say that enough. The river flows by the side of the resort, available for fishing (dont expect to catching anything other than very small fish, like 2 or 3 inches sized ones, max). There are also ponds within the resort where you can fish (again, very small fish though.. ) Note to travellers: Huge mosquitoes everywhere, do NOT forget anti mosquito creams/lotions,etc.. carry repellent, you will need it.. Vijo and Vinod are indeed very helpful and will go out of their way to make your stay as nice as possible. Sam and Tom too are wonderful to talk to. The food *is* traditional kerela cuisine, as advertised, however, its not great. Don't expect very tasty food. We were told the main chef was away, perhaps thats the reason our lunches and dinners were at best, average. The fried fish they serve has hardly any masala and the tilapia fish was most average in taste. So, don't expect awesomely tasty food here, its simple food, and definitely traditional food, but not made by expert cooks.. at least that was our experience.. A must visit though, for the location, the immense hospitality, and the great experience of a backwater stay.

We have just had a much needed two days at this lovely home stay, thank you Sam and Tom for all the helpful advise and chat. Vidor has made a welcoming and thoughtful place to stay, beautiful gardens with interesting back story. Family history of the property and honest treatment from all staff. The food was excellent and enough to feed an army, we enjoyed very much the kingfisher for dinner, if you understand. And I loved the communal eating area where we could chat with other guest as we meet some lovely interesting people, that stayed and had kingfisher for dinner with us. The room was amazing and an old grain barn with lovely out door showers, the guys could not be more helpful. If you are looking for a chill factor this has it

Very welcoming and helpful hosts (Vijo and his wife), familar atmosphere within the staff, lovingly renovated old house with an exuberant garden, delicious food. We stayed two nights, but we would have liked to stay for a week or even longer ...

We stayed at this place for one night and it was totally different experience from anywhere else. The property is accessible by boat only. The host and the staff are extremely helpful, friendly and very accommodating. The meals are served outdoors, genuinely home cooked and fixed prices. The showers are open air. Facilities include cycling and fishing including the tour of the garden area. Beware of the mosquitos and friendly lizards. Its a totally a different experience to any other place.
